Gonartrosis
WHY DOES GONARTROSIS CAUSE?
This is a very common question on the part of our patients, but the problem arises when it needs to be explained, because the etiology of the occurrence itself, despite numerous studies, is not completely clear, we will list some of the factors that are assumed to be related:
- Tissue aging
- External factors
- Hormonal disorder
- The following predispositions
IN RELATION TO THE OCCURRENCE OF GONARTHROSIS ARE DIVIDED INTO PRIMARY AND SECONDARY:
- PRIMARY ARTHROSIS, with normal load, there is a “weakness” of cartilage of unknown origin.
- SECONDARY ARTHROSIS with normal cartilage there is an overload, it can be a consequence of injury, congenital anomalies of joints, metabolic and endocrine diseases, inflammation, etc …
CLINICAL PICTURE OF GONARTHROSIS
The localization of pain is in the knee joint, at the very beginning of gonarthrosis there is pain when descending the stairs, as well as when climbing, but mostly more intense pain when descending the stairs, stiffness in the joint after rest, where the patient needs some time to restore movement functionality. A positive sign in that period can be crepitations (creaking) in the joint during passive movements. Later there is a restriction or stiffness of the knee joint, there is a phase of worsening of the clinical picture (joint thickening, muscle weakness, especially quadriceps, tendon weakness), these are the reasons that lead to “kneeling” and “failure” of the knee.
At a later stage, due to damage to the medial (inner) part of the knee, there is a deformity called O LEG (ox leg).
DIAGNOSIS OF GONARTHROSIS
In order to say for sure that someone suffers from gonarthrosis, we need the following:
- X-ray
- MR scan (if need be assessed)
- Physical examination
- Rheumatological examination
- Laboratory (if necessary)
TREATMENT OF GONARTHOSIS:
For the treatment of this disease, the CENTER HIRO-PHYSICAL uses the following procedures:
- Electrotherapy
- Laser therapy
- Magnetotherapy
- Kinesitherapy (exercises)
- Manual non-invasive method
We intentionally put the MANUAL NON-INVASIVE METHOD in the end, we can freely say that this method in 95% of cases (if there was no complete deformity of the joint) gives fantastic results, but after the first therapy patients feel relief on average 40-60% of pain, which is remarkable success. Everyone who suffers from gonarthrosis knows what it would mean for them.
If none of the methods can help, patients are referred for surgical treatment.
