Chiropractic is practiced by persons who have graduated from the Faculty of Chiropractic. Currently, there are no chiropractic faculties in Serbia and the surrounding area (currently, there are most of them in the USA), so chiropractic is practiced exclusively by persons who have graduated from medical school with a specialization in physical medicine, or physiotherapists who have completed medical school. In addition to acquired knowledge, practicing chiropractic requires continuous improvement, which implies following world trends, but also knowledge of other manual methods of treatment. Through frequent education programs in Serbia and the surrounding area, chiropractors acquire new knowledge and treatment methods that are carried out in larger centers in Europe and America.
Before the actual application of the method, the chiropractor will perform an examination or functional status of the patient, establish whether the patient is indicated for chiropractic. Then review the medical documentation, if the patient has images and reports from a radiologist (magnetic resonance imaging, scanner, X-ray, ultrasound) and based on that decide whether the patient is a candidate for chiropractic or not. Based on my many years of experience dealing with this or any other manual procedure, about 80% of patients were able to receive treatment immediately or after the recording of a certain segment. It is also important to say that chiropractic is well combined with physical therapy, because in this way its effect is further enhanced. The performance process itself is not so invasive, as it boils down to a short twitch of the exact segment to be treated. It should be noted that the procedure is not painful and that a certain sound that occurs in the patient during the procedure is actually the gas that is created, after the wait the patient immediately feels relief. Most often, it takes 2-3 days to feel the full effect of the therapy. Tests are done both before and after the treatment, but the patient will feel relief immediately after the manipulation.
